Probationary Period

All employees, regardless of classification or status, are hired on a minimum 90 calendar day probationary basis. This may be extended at the discretion of the Practice Administrator and/or the doctors. Former employees rehired will also serve a 90 day probationary period unless rehired into their former position within six (6) months of leaving that position in good standing.

During this period, the Practice Administrator, and the doctors will determine whether you are adequately suited to employment in this medical office. Not every individual fits easily into this kind of work setting. Some are not suited to health care work and yet may be perfectly competent in some other kind of job. Also, though you may be suited to health care work, it may just be that this office is not right for your skills. The doctors and Practice Administrator do not expect any employee to attain perfection — certainly not during the first few months of employment. If you seem to be having difficulties, please ask for help from your supervisor, Practice Administrator or the doctors. If the doctors and Practice Administrator believe you are having difficulties with some aspects of your work, they will try to help. If problems seem to exist during or at the end of the 90 days, it may be decided to terminate your employment. However, upon passing the probationary period, you remain an employee at will.

Training Schedule

We are proud to have you on our staff! Now let’s get started. There is some basic reading material which will help orient you to our office.

Much of your first week will be spent learning about the functions of the office and what the positions of your co-workers encompass. This process will help you see how you and your job fit into the big picture. It will also help you get to know your fellow staff members, and will make you more sensitive to the needs and demands of their jobs. We work as a team. Everyone is here to teach and everyone is here to learn. In the weeks to come, you will realize how much your successful performance depends on the successful performance of your co-workers.

Each department has a training program. You will be partnered with a staff member who will teach the elements of your job functions. Please take notes and treat even the simplest of task with your full attention as things ultimately affect a patient’s quality of care.
