Office Notes – February 2017

Amy: Good Morning.

Dr. Roensch got married in May. She is now Dr. Tyler. Some insurances still have her as Roensch so it will be Roensch-Tyler while slowly making the transition.

Patient last month had HIV. An alert pops up now. In future put Code 15 so if it is left up on screen no other patient will see it. If you see or know of any other patients, please make the adjustment in chart and add black dot on routing sheet.

Work excuses for patients: At checkout they may ask for one and they have to go on what the pts tells them. If it is more than one day techs need to do the excuse or write on routing sheet. Make sure it is what the physician wants if possible. Companies have called to verify accuracy of documents.

Last month Dr. C talked about PQRS codes changing to MIBS. It is just a name change, code is the same.

Refraction fee increasing to $49 this year.

The Carlins asked to talk about cell phone usage. They are used too often in the patient areas. Put them away. If you need to use it, go away from patient area.

Employee arrival times: Working on revamping of schedules and flow. If you work at 8:00, you need to be here and clocked in by 7:55 so you can get the patients started. Also applies to lunch hour so be timely and clock in by 12:50.

John and Nancy, our cleaning people, only come Monday thru Friday. If there is a mess left on Saturday, please take a moment to clean it up.

Please do not flush feminine hygiene products down the toilet.

Techs: put your belongings in your locker. Let Amy know if you don’t have one.

When wearing pink scrubs and brown pants wear brown shoes and with blue scrubs wear black shoes. Read More

Office Notes – January 2017

Dr. C:
Good morning.
Thank you for your hard work in December. We saw over 4,000 patients. There were very few complaints. Realize it was very stressful, but the hard work paid off and it did make the year.

2016 was a good year but did not increase over 2015. Saw 43,000 patients in 2016. That’s about 3 times the population of Snellville.

Cataracts up, Bleph, Lasik, Optical and Contacts down.

Planning for 2017, our 40th year!

If under 40 you were not born when this practice started. Would like to go back to the basics and focus on infrastructure of practice, better training for employees and make jobs more interesting. Would like for techs to become more proficient and certified. Need to recover some chairs to improve the physical look of the office.

We need your help, can’t do it alone. Talk to Amy and Dr. Carlin about our needs. Please complain – can’t solve all the problems but we need to know if you feel that you are not getting the help you need to do your job. Amy’s door is always open. If Amy or Dr. Carlin doesn’t respond, keep on them about it – would like to make it a better environment.

Dry eye service starting this month with Dr. Bennett-Sims. Hannah, our Dry Eye Coordinator, can make appointments on phone or at check-out. We will have a whole comprehensive exam on dry eye. If you have question please ask Hannah. Insurance covers evaluation and some treatments.

Snow tonight- talk to Saturday employees if we close. Amy will call Shelly and Brittany. Make sure you have the updated call triage so you know who to call and who calls you and make sure your phone number is correct. Read More
