Office Notes – April 2017

Dr. Carlin: Good Morning

Please welcome Miranda, our new optician. This month Miranda led in the amount of sales per unit.

Welcome Debbie who works at the front desk.

We saw 4,300+ patients last month.

This practice has been built on the home time touch and that is very critical. Make every effort to continue that.

He apologizes for the political talk and will discontinue. Does not want to offend anyone and he is sorry if he did.

Raindrop started two weeks ago, thanks everyone for finding those patients. Does not interfere with your distance vision. Did 7 patients, wonderful experience, very viable procedure. Please continue to find those patients 41-65 years of age who just need reading glasses.

LASIK Spring special from March to May. $500 total, $250 off per eye.

Cosmetic Bleph Special in May and June. $500 total, $125 off per lid.

Please be careful in calling patients just by their last name and address them as Mr., Mrs., or Miss. Confirm their DOB when taken into room.

After many years Mandy had stepped down as the Tech Supervisor. She has done a great job and is going to be just a regular tech.

Megan Sutton will now be the Tech Supervisor. Duties will be scheduling, issues and all functions of the back office. Lauren Y, will still help with tech scheduling.

Question? Been giving payouts for Bleph and LASIK for years. Are there any other ideas regarding this? Continue to make the paients aware we offer these things.

Building next door sold and will be a self-storage unit. Construction will begin soon. Park over there at your own risk.

Payouts: not available. Read More

Office Notes – March 2017

Dr. Carlin: Good morning!

Dry Eye Service started and doing very well. It is a big help for patients.

Implementing the Raindrop Inlay this month, which is a small disk placed under the cornea with a LASIK flap for those 30 million presbyopic people in US who only need reading glasses. Inlay is put in one eye for patient to see up close. Advantage over mono vision is it does not affect distance vision in that eye. Cannot do it if you had LASIK. Initial cost for 1st ambassador patients is $1500, then patient cost of $3500. Procedure is reversible. Will offer a money back guarantee if patient is not satisfied. Counts as a LASIK referral. Information in blue folders. Diana will do the evaluation.

Bleph numbers are down please so mention it to patients and give them a folder.

This year we are trying to improve the infrastructure of the practice and how we get the patients through the system. Please remember that pts who have a sudden loss of vision are emergencies and need to come in now.

Things that must be treated now: central retinal artery occlusion, have 45 minutes to save vision, patient who has loss of vision in the last few days and open globe injury.

We must be more accommodating to our patients but follow the template. People who need certain times, we must help them get in at the time they need to be seen. People who have a problem and need certain times should be accommodated.

Issue brought up at the doc meeting – when people need a lot of testing it is hard to do it at night or on Saturday. Try not to schedule at night or Saturdays. Will look into having an extra tech for that purpose at those times.

Still having an issue with cell-phone usage in the office. If issues continue, we may have to confiscate them. Read More
