Dr. RC-
Good Morning
We had an issue this week with a pt making a threat. The pt was very upset about charges for an advanced refractive package. He said he was going to shoot the place up. We do not take threats lightly. We called the police. If you have a situation please let Amy or one of the doctors know.
Everyone works very hard here. We saw over 40,000 people with 6 doctors. We did more lasik than John Hopkins.
There have been reviews given to the patients to fill out about the doctors. Pts. said the customer service was great from the front desk to the opt.
One patient said Troy was so helpful and knowledgeable. Another was given a review on Dr. T and crossed out Dr. T’s name and wrote Troy.
Recently a new machine was purchased. The machine measures functions of the retina and optic nerve. It will be used for many different types of pts some being plaquinel and other drugs that could affect the optic nerve, and also for ARMD patients. There are only about a half a dozen of these machines in GA. It is done by placing electrodes below and above the eyes and on the back of the head. The test takes about 10 minutes.
In the next couple of weeks we will be doing videoing in the office. These videos will be posted in the office and on the website. Our goal is to make our own videos for pt info.
House Keeping: Techs- when bring pts to contacts please let them know what the patient needs, if you do not know ask the doc. There has been an increase in trials not being put in the chart. Also ask pts to keep the foil from the trial they are given so they have something to reference when they call to order. In order for a pt to qualify for trials they must have worn contacts before. If they have not worn contacts before they must be fit and taught proper care of the contacts.
When IOL power is calculated for pts we will be doing new test: corneal oct.
Please do not go into the lasik room, it is kept as a certain temp and humidity and this is very important for the laser. Fragrances will affect the laser. If you need something ask Diana or a lasik tech.

When a patient is referred out there will be a new process but in place, According to meaningful use we must now provide an email out as well as call to make the appointment, give the pt records. The email is called a direct email and will be done by checkout. Please write on the routing sheet so checkout will know. The only place currently using direct email is GA retina.
Amy:
