RC:
Good Morning!
Congratulations to Megan M for passing her COA.
There are a couple people we would like to single out- We would like to thank Ashley Massey and Ashleigh Gordon for helping Lottie on testing.
An issue we are having in for some reason we are starting to tap into the Asian market. One lady called and she was very happy and gave insight: we must understand that Asian people are different and hard to understand. Ashley Gilmore was very patient and kind to the pt. The most important thing we can do for these patients is be patient with them not understand us.
Question- Can astigmatism become worse by sitting too close to the TV? NO!!
We are starting a program on continuing Ed. People who have a certificate and must do continuing Education will be reimbursed $75 a year. The course must be approved by Amy.
COA is a bonus in pay and if not maintained you will lose the bonus.
We did a couple of focus groups last month. We will continue to do 1 or 2 month. The next ones will be April 22nd. A sign is hanging in the break room with the people’s name that are going to be in it.
In the news- GA Legislator passed new marijuana bill. This law will allow 20 oz. or 5% of medical marijuana to be prescribed for epilepsy, other seizure disorders and muscle diseases. No practical ocular use.
We are having an issue with scribes putting prescriptions in wrong. Please make every effort to make sure everything is correct. Also on any office SX or Yag you must send a TO DO to PRECERT as well as print a demo screen. Please put Yags on both schedules.
New modifiers- 59 will be an unbundle for a surgery that involves more than one procedure.
We have recently purchased another testing device. This deceive will have electrodes that you place on the eye and head, in order to show the pathway between the eye and certain parts of the brain. Tests different parts of the retina as well. It will be useful to detect future vision loss and give info about MD.
Insurance pays for it about $120.
A scan unit is broken- we are ordering another.
Scheduling fluorescein: Do not put it on Dr. T’s schedule because it takes up a space. When Brittany is out we will have a nurse from the surgery center come over to do it.
Lasik: Karen and Chelsie

Optical had a tremendous month.
Amy-
We will start with the boring stuff.. Meaning ful use: when we are referring patients out , we will change by direct emailing the pts info to the receiving doctor. Only 2 places we refer out to have a direct email set up. This will be not much different than a CCD document. Lottie has been watching our direct email address.
Recently we printed a to do report- 20 pages- make sure you to done things when you finish them.
Does everyone know that for Avesis and Spectera must be at least 1 year and 1 day? Contacts are also having an issue with contacts.
Ramping up to vacation season- the calendar hanging up the white board has the names on it of the people already approved off on the days. Before you put in a request off, check the calendar. It does not always mean you are going to be denied. Please remember to sign and date the requests.
4th of July is on a Saturday this year. The office will be closed. No office meeting on July 3rd.
Very exciting news- we will have a taco truck on May 5th!
We need help deciding- More activities every month or a picnic?
Events each month
We are doing Snellville days. It will be held May 2 & 3. We will bring more aliens. How can we do it this year to make it more fun than last year? There is a signup sheet located in the break room. You will receive Double PTO hours for the hours worked. Example 4 hours worked 8 hours PTO.
Also need some suggestions on Carnival Prizes.
We are still currently running the Bleph special.
Lastly when calling in sick it must be between 7:00am and 7:30am and you also must call the office at 8:00am.
